What to expect during a data platform implementation

Starting a data project can feel like stepping into the unknown. We work closely with you to make the process clear, collaborative, and tailored to your needs. This guide outlines what you can expect when you begin a data project with us, so your team can feel prepared and informed every step of the way.     


Discovery: Understanding your needs 

Every project begins with a discovery phase. This is where we take the time to understand your organisation, your goals, and the context you work within. We will ask about the challenges you are facing, the systems you currently use, and the kinds of questions you want to answer with your data. 

This is a collaborative process. We may run workshops or one-on-one interviews with key staff members. If you are not sure what you need, that’s perfectly okay. Our role is to help you explore possibilities and clarify your priorities. At the end of discovery, you will have a shared understanding of what the project will focus on, and why. 


Design: Planning the right approach 

Once we understand your goals, we will begin to design a solution that fits. This might include improving how your data is collected and stored, curated, creating dashboards to show insights, or connecting your existing systems to integrate data to show a fuller picture. 

During this phase, we will also plan the technical setup. This includes choosing the right tools and structure for your data (such as Microsoft Fabric), making sure we follow good data governance practices, and outlining what success will look like. You will have input into every step. Our job is to translate your needs into a practical and scalable design. 


Implementation: Building your data platform 

With a design in place, we move into implementation. This is where the technical work happens. Our team will set up your data environment, configure connections to your systems, and begin building the tools that will help you access and use your data more effectively. 

We will keep you informed and involved, walking you through the options that fit your needs. We may ask for access to systems, help testing dashboards, or input on which reports are most useful. If any part of the implementation affects your daily operations, we will work with you to schedule it in a way that causes the least disruption. 


Testing and Feedback: Making sure it works for you 

Before anything is launched, we will test the tools with your team. This is your chance to check that the data looks right, the reports make sense, and the solution is easy to use. We will listen closely to your feedback and make adjustments where needed. 

This phase is important for building confidence. We want you to feel comfortable using your new tools and to trust that the data is accurate. We can also provide training sessions or short how-to videos to help your team learn how to use the platform. 


Go-Live: Putting the solution into use 

Once everything has been tested and approved, we will support you in launching the new system. This might mean rolling out new dashboards, introducing data entry forms, or replacing old reporting processes. We will be on hand during this time to answer questions and help troubleshoot anything unexpected. 

Launching your new data solution is an exciting step. It marks the point where your investment in this work begins to deliver value, whether that is in improved service delivery, easier reporting, or clearer decision-making. 


Support and Growth: What comes next 

A data project does not end at go-live. As your organisation grows and changes, so will your data needs. That is why we offer ongoing support options. You may want to add new features, run deeper analysis, or begin working with automations/AI solutions linked to your data platform.
